SCREENING AND PREVENTIVE SERVICES TO COMPLICATIONS OF DIABETES

Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. Type 2 diabetes, the most prevalent form of the disease, is often asymptomatic in its early stages and can remain undiagnosed for many years.

Screening is the tool to unmark a disease which is prevalent but asymptomatic. It is said that for every 1 Diagnosed Patients there are 2 Undiagnosed Diabetics, out of these 2 one is frank Diabetic and other is in a Pre Diabetic Stage. By Screening we can detect Diabetes in these individuals and start treatment on time before Diabetes damages other organs.

Detecting Pre- Diabetes will help people to prevent progression of Diabetes and this help both the patient and the society at large.

Early screening will help in starting the preventive measures at appropriate time to yield the best result.
